Hi, Royce:

I’m so sorry I’m such a terrible correspondent!

I love your Cloud Illusions. In that colorway it’s like snowflakes falling against the early-morning daylight.

The bulky lace project is beautiful in a whole different way. And you’re doing another lace project after that???? LOL! I really didn’t know you would really FINALLY like lace knitting, but you have made at least 2 Summerflies, which is akin to lace.

It’s funny about things. I didn’t like squash or mashed potatoes until quite recently. I still don’t care for gravies, and I still HATE coconut. I know this because every so often I accidentally eat something with coconut in it.

A few weeks ago the Big Warehouse Shopping Club had a free weekend. You could go in and spend without having to pay the “entry price.” Not having been there in quite a while—maybe almost a year, I felt the urge to go. Big disappointment! Unfortunately they weren’t serving free snack meals. I did manage to liberate a huge bag of Sensible Portions Veggie Straws from the shelves, as well as few other items one just can’t buy in volume (or at all) elsewhere. I also got a hot dog. I thought of you while I ate that hot dog. No one else would really understand it. LOL!

Saturday I went to the Michigan Fiber Festival and met up with Jan and Christina there, as well as two of their friends. They were my guides and enablers. They were making a long weekend of it. That festival has grown a lot since the last time I’d been to it. Three buildings of vendors and more outside! Lots of fiber animals, too, since they have actual livestock competitions. A lot of stuff to look at and to pet and to….buy. I did liberate a few skeins of this and that. It was a beautiful day on the Sunset side of the state. We had dinner in Holland, talked a bunch, and I had a really good time.

I also finally finished my summer scarf, just in time for the end of summer. It’s DK-weight cotton, and the pattern is Oh, Helen! by a friend in California. I decided to call my project “Oh, Helen!” to honor both of our moms.

IFI know you have had a lot of rain. We had quite a lot exactly a week ago, but it’s been absolutely splendid the last several days. Cool at night, but the days warm up nicely. It’s just letter-perfect weather. It’s cucumber-tomato-corn-peach time, and that’s a really good time of year. Speaking of that, I think I need to go see about a BLT salad.

Hello to Joe and Larry. Tell them to behave.

About snowandroyce

Snow and Royce are friends. For a long time, Snow lived in a Southern state quite near Royce. Then Snow moved back home to the Northern land of her birth. They decided to start blogging just to keep in touch because email, Facebook, and other forms of digital communication just aren't quite enough. Royce has a dog named Joe. She likes miniatures, knitting, her grandchildren, vodka, and gadgets in no particular order. Snow likes knitting, miniatures, and would like to be a voracious reader, if only she could stay awake.
