Dear Royce,

I started the Mystery Shawl KAL today—at least I got 313 stitches cast on and knitted 2 rows. Above is my swatch, which I duly knitted, washed, blocked, and photographed. Of course it’s red, which is hard to photograph. The picture doesn’t show the true color, which I think is more of true red. The yarn is Plymouth Yarn Alpaca Prima fingering weight in color 2060. Β I have 3 skeins, which is more than enough. I chose to make the medium size.

I wondered if you would get started today? I know it’s your big night out.

If any of our readers (do we even have any readers?) are interested, the designer/KAL hostess is offering the pattern at half price until June 8. The KAL started today with the release of Part A. There are 4 weekly installments.Β

I haven’t peeked at the threads over at Ravelry yet—no doubt there are a few who have knit the first 20 rows already.

Take care,

About snowandroyce

Snow and Royce are friends. For a long time, Snow lived in a Southern state quite near Royce. Then Snow moved back home to the Northern land of her birth. They decided to start blogging just to keep in touch because email, Facebook, and other forms of digital communication just aren't quite enough. Royce has a dog named Joe. She likes miniatures, knitting, her grandchildren, vodka, and gadgets in no particular order. Snow likes knitting, miniatures, and would like to be a voracious reader, if only she could stay awake.
