Dear Mrs. Royce:

It’s haven’t knitted on my sky scarf for a few days. I need to make amends:

  • Today: Gray with gray. It’s a gray day NOW. I think it was sunny when I ran to the store for Diet Cola at lunchtime. Oh yes.
  • Yesterday: Bright blue and white. It was a bright, sunny day.
  • Sunday: Who remembers?

I see I referred to Lord Grantham as Robert in a previous post. I know this shocked you—perhaps even befuddled you and our audience. “Who is Robert,” they’re surely thinking? The wise ones probably thought, “how dare she refer to him by his Christian name!” He’s only known to Lady Grantham (Countess) and Dowager Countess Grantham by his given name.

Names are a funny thing on the program. It’s M’Lord and M’Lady for the family members; the butler, valet, and lady’s maids are known by only their last name, except by other staff.   Then it’s Mister Carson or Miss O’Brien. Footman and maids are known by their first names. Housekeepers and cooks have the title of Mrs., even if they aren’t married.

Just a few random thoughts,

About snowandroyce

Snow and Royce are friends. For a long time, Snow lived in a Southern state quite near Royce. Then Snow moved back home to the Northern land of her birth. They decided to start blogging just to keep in touch because email, Facebook, and other forms of digital communication just aren't quite enough. Royce has a dog named Joe. She likes miniatures, knitting, her grandchildren, vodka, and gadgets in no particular order. Snow likes knitting, miniatures, and would like to be a voracious reader, if only she could stay awake.
